TJ, you'll have to start a thread and let us know what the schedule looks like.

Re: School... its coming!!!

At least I'll have ample time to set the classroom the way I want it to be. The last guy didn't have anything on the wall other than one map! And he desk placement was all wrong! I"m going to string some cat5 wire and get things looking the way I want. I hope that'll take three weeks.

In-service is the time when teachers and administrators are working while students are not.

I want to elaborate on diddyriddick's post...

yes, in-service is when teachers and "administrators" work while students are not in school. Sometimes, these in-services are valuable and worth the time. A majority of the time, in-services (hopefully yours isn't like this TJ ), are big waste of time and effort. Especially at the beginning of the school year when teachers should be in their rooms working and getting ready for kids. Administration likes to bog teachers down with meetings and new initiatives instead of letting us get ready. In our district, we have a night where students come and meet the teachers and drop their supplies off at their lockers. That day comes on the second day that teachers are supposed to report. On the first day we are in district in-service all day and part of the day on the second day. Which leaves how much time to get our rooms ready for students and parents to see??? I think you can all take a guess

What a shame to waste the time of teachers for nothing... or any professionals.
