Start of Upper Palaeolithic 50,000 years ago

This rewritten blog covers the period between 40,000 and 50,000 years ago. I look at the first steps into Europe by Homo sapiens, much earlier than previously thought; discover another sub-species of hominid in Russia; and look into the start of our artistic achievement which would bear fruit in tens of thousands of years to come. So join me as I continue my long journey through the Stone Age. Enjoy
