I hope it's ok with DaveK if I post this query in this thread.

If anyone is aware of a podcast that covers the colonization of Africa, please let me know. This request is for a non-historum friend.

Thanks.

DaveK, your list is awesome!

I've tried out several of the series you've listed and have enjoyed a couple dozen hours of material so far.

Prompted by your excellent resource, a non-historum friend and I have gotten hooked on Hardcore History's King of Kings, and we have been downloading and burning other series to try as well.

Thank you so much for putting this list together!

Some updates! It's getting hard to keep up. New podcasts keep springing up. It is a golden age of history podcasting...

History Talk Origins: Current Events in Historical Perspective

Description: "Every month since 2007, we’ve provided historical insight on current events that matter to the United States and to the world. The history departments of Ohio State University and Miami University in Oxford produce a main article that appears on the 15th of each month and features an expert who analyzes a pressing issue—whether political, cultural, or social—in a broader, deeper context. Origins’ main articles focus on the long-term trends and patterns, search for the foundations of today’s events, and explore the often complicated nature of a particular current event."

The Dangerous History Podcast

Description: "The goal of the Dangerous History Podcast is to help you learn the past so that you can better understand the present and prepare for the future.

The Dangerous History Podcast takes CJ’s countless hours spent as a Professional History Dork and boils all the most interesting and/or important stuff he has learned into podcast episodes, combining education with entertainment with the ultimate goal of empowerment.

This is the history the Establishment would rather you not know."

Historically Stupid

Description: "Ever get depressed? Ever think, "My God! Is humanity getting dumber?!" Historically Stupid is here to let you know:

No! We've always been dumb! Every society, whether it featured Carpathians or Kardashians, has been filled with idiots.

Podcast hosts Daniel Khan and Sam Seifman, with no degrees in the matter, point out these historical idiots so you don't have to."

One more (For today)

Talking History: The Italian Unification 1790-1879

Description: "Our goal is to tell the story of how Italy became a unified state in the 19th century. It's a story that has everything - and we're very excited to tell it. The current plan is to release a new episode every 2 weeks. In general, the episodes will be in lecture format, rather than a discussion. We'll take turns telling you the story."
