Renaissance or High Middle Ages?

I am having trouble deciding on these two periods, can someone help me? 1. Pope Alexander V1 of the Borgia family when he took office, Renaissance or High Middle Ages? 2. The conclusion of the Hundred Years War, Renaissance or High Middle Ages? 3. Niccolo Machiavelli when he wrote "The Prince" Renaissance or High Middle Ages? THANKS!

Answer to the first and third questions is Renaissance. Dunno abt the second one, but Naylor's provided you with an answer for that, so good.

Another small question, During the Renaissance, was slavery prohibited throughout Italy?

Slavery was banned atleast in theory ( papal declaration against all slavery in the early 1500s), but that still wouldn't have stopped it in practice. I wouldn't put it past Genoa or Venice to engage in the slave trade, and the sea around Italy was full of pirates that constantly raided the coast line. Not to mention that most of the population was in feudal slavery.

Agree on the slavery issue. Although widely condemned (by all three major faiths - Christianity, Islam & Judaism) - it was still widely practiced in and around the Mediterranean (esp. Northern Africa).

You see my dear,

There is already a premise in your allegations... Are we then in feudal slavery with our federal system as it tis written? You could ledge this against any modren system alike...

back to Plato: What is "slavery"? Oh, the poor children in public schools could tell you about that!

Bob Marley had one thing right... "Immancipate yourself from mental slavery! None but ourselves can free our minds"

Only the rebirth of the sacred office of nobility and aristorcacy can give any meaning to our work... we already have these offices, we just give them revolutionary titles rather than the empirical ones.

I think it was unfortunate that President Lincoln did what he did, don't u?

How can one tell when his mind is immancipated from mental slavery? When I am your serf? I see from your avatar that you've already got the hat and the stick thing.

We must learn to serve others before we can expect to be served by others.

But what's that got to do with the sacred office of nobility and aristorcacy thing?
