Battle of Kleidion & Bulgaria after 1014

I'm interested in the Battle of Kleidion (also known as Strumsita or Cimbalongus), which was a key step towards the Byzantine annexation of the Balkans. So here are some questions I hope some of you have an answer to:

1. Comtemporary sources about the battle? Are there any that can be found online?

2. The annexation of Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia. How did it turn out? Was everything south of the Balkans truly placed under imperial control? How did this affect the Byzantine economy?

3. Serbia and Croatia: Did Byzantium truly annex these areas, or were they just imperial vassals?

4. Was the annexation of these areas good for the Empire long-term? Were they wealthy and resourceful provinces?

No, and no. Skylitzes mentions it in 13.35 so we have a near contemporary source. The Greek is online, but PM your email address and I'll send you a photo of the pages in English.

The work you're looking for is:

Both essential for anything related to Basil II:

This one is actually a lot less daunting than it looks. The pages are pretty small:
