I am here for not just my own pleasure, but for the pleasure of my little cousin, hes 13 and im trying to find a book for him, something that probably includes warfare but that doesn't matter too much just a book that he could pick up and read and enjoy thats not too thickly written. Thanks.
Also sorry if this is the wrong place to post...

If you're not focused on a book about the Middle Ages, I read this one when I was about that age (and still remember it many years later):
It seems to be out of print, but very good used copies seem to be available on Amazon and abebooks.com.

Necropolis: London and Its Dead and Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee are the best books I ever read.

I'm gonna assume you wanted a book about medieval warfare, being that your post is in the Medieval history forum. Barbara Tuchman's , A Distant Mirror, is one of my all time favorite books. She writes history like no else, I just hope a 13yr old can appreciate it. Also in John Keegan's, The Face of Battle, he devotes the first portion of his book to the battle of Agincourt. He describes beautifully and intricately what Medieval warfare was like.

The Spartan by Caroline Dale Snedeker was pretty cool, though it is not only about war. I was seventeen when I read it, it might be for a more mature audience, there is reference to a ten year old child unable to read it:
For a teen you can try Sandokan:

Here are a few that I can recommend that might be at a teen level:
The last book isn't from the medieval period, but these sorts of books he might find of interest.
Here's one historical fiction that every teen should read:
It's an excellent book and it really gets kids interested in history.
