It was not over night transformation. The location and history of the Middle east means that there is no reason to believe that the populations did not change over millenia of history. This is a reconstruction from prehistory: Click the image to open in full size.

I just assumed they were primarily "Caucasoid" and maybe some Habesha or Somali types here and there. I generally assume ancient peoples overall looked like their modern day counterparts unless evidence strongly suggests otherwise.

I am not sure how Blacks would end up as the slaves in such a relationship. Well to be honest, after the Persians defeated the Axumite garisson located in Ethiopia, the Blacks there were reduced to seevitude. However, the idea that Blacks in preIslamic Arabia were there primarily as a result of an ancient trade slave is not supported by anything we know about the history of that region.
This is what I was getting at.

Why would a region that touches three continents stay the same?

They very likely hv stayed more or less the same, i.e. looking constantly like a hybrid of people from three regions nearby their own, indigenous melting-pot area, i.e. Southern Europe, Northern Africa & Western Asia.

Any reason that a region that bridges two continents couldn't have people with mixed heritage?
