Might be that Genghis Khan burned more wealth without thinking twice than this dude ever owned.

I just tend to shy away from "all of history" claims. Too many variables and not enough hard data...
Fair enough. It isn't concrete but its definitely plausible.

Mali had too much of a monopoly on gold, salt and iron. At one point 3/5 of the gold traded around the Mediterranean originated in Malian controlled mines.

Mansa masu musa sasu Mousa. Did he ever gave zeka'at? :O

I think from what he had to give as a Muslim(2,5% of his property each year) he could have made few little states, or even build a bridge to Americas, or even... make Play Station III, or at least nuclear powerplant...or..something else...

Pretty cool how the richest man in history came from what is now the poorest continent...even cooler is the fact that he was a Muslim..

As in absolute purchasing power compared with Aurangzeb, Tang Taizong, or Donald Trump? I'm not so sure about that. I'll defer to the economic historians who have a better shot at determining that absolute purchasing power...
Oh please don't let that pompous style-lacking Donald Trump stand in that list. Yuk.

Rather mention men like Rockefeller, Cecil Rhodes, Crassus.

Huh?

I would have thought for sure that Marcus Crassus would have been the top of the list. As his wealth was legendary in the ancient world
