This doesn't sound exactly like what you're looking for ^ but only because the organism is in the protista kingdom - because isn't an animal.

I've wondered (and this is serious) why the larger penis has evolved. Like the ten incher. What evolutionary purpose does that have? We all know two inches is plenty.

But seriously now, and this is serious, very serious, why has the penis gotten bigger? Has the vagina also gotten bigger?

I'm sure that at one time, and possibly for a long time, people walked around semi-naked. The penis was a status symbol. Like owning a Hummer is today. It probably meant something. But why, after the invention of underwear, has it continued to get bigger? I don't see any reproductive benefit of having a large penis. I've been told, by a liar, that smaller is better. And I believe that. I have to.

Well, a friend of mine used to work as a prostitute. Therefore, she'd seen a few penises in her time. She said that the average joystick is much smaller than people, particularly men, think.

Give a woman the choice between plenty of cash and status and 10 incher, it will be the former every time. I think it has always been like that. It's more practical that way. I mean, how will a 10 incher help him provide for his family? (This is before porn actors, and in any case, most female porn stars are tiny, in order to make the men look bigger).

However there were many famous males in history who had many lovers and were popular between females, only because they had reputation of being great lovers or having large penis. Many women just wanted to "try" them.

The lover part might be true but I'm not sure about the big penis. For one, we know that larger penises don't equal to female sexual satisfaction. Second, it's hard to gauge sexual reputation historically. Third, even if your supposition is true it's not applicable to evolution. A few men in history doesn't explain evolutionary process or the usefulness of a larger penis.

PADDYBOY might have a thought or two on the subject(s). I'm looking forward to his learned opinion on the OP.
