Hello everybody

Hey everybody, my name is Zack, I am 28 years old and as long as I can remember, I have always loved history. I live in Connecticut, USA with my wife, 2 dogs, and soon-to-be first born child. My interests in learning about the past change practically day to day from different eras, wars, cultures, and regions of the world.

It seems like there is always something catching my eye or ear which sparks a new interest and puts a previous one on the back burner. For example I recently went through a US Civil War - Battle of Gettysburg phase with an amazing weekend trip to the battlefield. Soon after that I read (actually listened to an audiobook of) Upton Sinclair's The Jungle for the first time after briefly hearing about it in a high school history class and found myself interested in early 20th century industry. Currently, I just started "reading" Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine, and the Murder of a President about James Garfield. Perhaps I will never be able to focus on any one area of history to be an expert, but I greatly enjoy the variety of it all.

Needless to say when I stumbled upon this site, I was thrilled to find a place with good conversations and information on all things historical. I am a novice in all aspects of history, however I look forward to discussing and learning about a wide variety of topics here in the future.
