I find little wrong with Germany, which is enjoyable to visit and still much admired for its recovery after Hitler even if it appears to be going through a "Sleepy Michael" phase. It needs time to recover its strength, confidence and culture after the devastation and loss of life of two world wars...and welcome from an even more sleepy Wales!

Little wrong compared to what? An average country? Yes, I could maybe agree with that (apart from our history).
But: Consider that Germany once was a great nation and then look what it has been reduced to after WW II. It can never recover from that, because the dark history will always be there, and because it has lost much of its territory and its culture/architecture. There is no sleeping Michael to wake up, the Michael is dead. At best he can be average, with a shameful past. Heck, the land we live on is not Germany, but only a small part of it. And we have committed the biggest genocide ever. What country is that? Coming out of the biggest war and darkness ever, which you started, crippled and humilated, how can you have a future?

Also, just take a look at the estimates for how the demographics will develop in the next decades - it will get even much worse for us. A growing muslim community that is mostly either not loyal or even hostile towards a gutless Germany, and a shrinking, aging population.

Wales is much better off in every regard. Being Welsh is much better than belonging to a once great country that decided to commit genocide and as punishment has been reduced to a shameful nobody. Wales at least is lovely...

Germany leads the European Union and is an economic giant compared to most advanced societies. It also has a consistently good if not great football team.

Do you really fear Muslims? Perhaps the "adopted" child might tomorrow become more German than the Germans? Does happen.

Yes Germany has a great history if tragic for much of the 20th century but give it time and patience. Self-hatred is not healthy...it's been tried in Wales and doesn't work!

The leadership in the EU is just the next tragedy in our history, arising from the mental illness caused by our own guilt. Now we force an anti-democratic system on the European peoples, because our self-hate tells us that a free, independent Germany has no right to exist. Really, after WW II Germany is simply pathetic. I only realized that today, when I looked at centuries of great history and compared it to the 20th and 21st century. I mean itīs not just tragic, it really was a game over.

Self-hate is not good, but perhaps it would be good to get rid of any identification with a country you canīt love. Once the identification is lost, there is no need for self-hate.

No. I just study there.

I donīt identify with any country at the moment. To be honest I started to think like that only today, when I saw a (unbiased and good) documentary on the German history since the Roman times, and for the first time realized how big our tragedy really is.
