Lucius Vorenus,

Thanks! And if we can not sharpen the bat, we can always hammer nails into it and grind off their ends. Right at the moment, I am just fine, but that is a very nice offer.

Welcome!

I don't know much about Alexander the Great except that he conquered Egypt and his general Ptolemy became ruler which lead to Cleopatra VII co-ruling with her brother and her relationship with Gauis Julius Ceasar and Marc Anthony.

My specialities are Egyptian and Roman History as well as British (which Rome invaded as well).

Enjoy your time here!

My Historical background is not great, not at all (but that is why I am here). I am currently enrolled in the free online Constitution and History classes at Online Constitution Courses - Register - Hillsdale College I encourage you all to take it, I just need to find the time to complete it.

I have almost one and a half years of Latin experience, and I am fascinated with Ancient Rome (specifically the Empire), and I do have a good knowledge on that. I know some basic Athenian history, along with Spartan history. I know lots of U.S. History, but like I said earlier, my background is not great.

My main source of History from ancient writers is Plutarch, but I hope to improve. Let me thank you all for letting me join this community, and I look forward to it greatly.

Ave, Artifex!

As a Romanized Hellenic scholar, Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus is an excellent and quite enjoyable introduction to the Classical Antiquity; just remember that his primary goal as a writer was ethics, then philosophy, then biography and just after that History.

Sylla1,

Ah, I did not know that about Plutarch, as his Lives is the only work of his I know of. Are there many others? Are any of them good?

Hi and welcome to the site. I've removed your link as it's against forum rules, but don't worry about it, it's no big deal. Just have a look through them when you get a moment.

Ah yes, you removed my link. No big deal. I looked over the rules but found no such thing related to it. Where is it?
