I see, I believe. I no see, I no believe.

As kids we believed that anything is possible, becos we hv not yet developed the capability for rational, logic-based analysis. But as adults we shud all make an effort to venture beyond the mindset we once had during our very young years.

I remain open minded. But experiences so far in life hv gradually eroded any beliefs I once had in anything falling under the category of 'the supernatural'.

I hv even once heard a loud funny sound, like someone was repeatedly doing some kind of heavy stuff, at the other end of my office building at 8:30 pm, when I was the only one left remaining. It was a spanking new building, and we had only moved in for about a month or so. I went to investigate, and as soon as I opened the lab room door some fifteen yards opposite my own office room, where I thought the sound came from, the sound immediately stopped.

Some seconds later, the hairs on my neck stood. I went back to my room, packed up & went down to leave. Then I came back to inform the security guards, just in case something of a criminal nature had happened. The two of them came back up with me, there was nothing. One of them later told me his neck hairs had also stood up LOL.

For some three months I dared not stay back alone beyond 7:30 pm.

Then, one day, I heard the very same exact sound, this time at about 4:30 pm. Eureka! 'Mysterious sound' explained. It was the 'water hammer' effect in the water piping.

I hear ya. The only reason I became fanatical is because my own experience spurred me to take a look at it. I never expected to see anything in my lifetime, though I will admit to believing in the phenomenon before I experienced it. It's a self-healing kind of phenomenon; some people will never believe it unless one lands on their head (and I suspect that would be too late), others don't want to know because it frightens them, and it is so bizarre that even those who see it have a hard time with it. It is infrequent enough that it is open to ridicule. Government? Plausible deniability as long as possible to learn more about it. Sigh.

Though now I suspect you were talking about ghosts.

In high school I had a perfectly proper and level-headed English teacher tell us that she was visiting friends on the East Coast and was spending the night, when a Revolutionary War soldier (don't remember which side) walked into the room, glowing, and left through a wall or something. I was quite surprised to hear it from her.

LOL. Yeah, it is quite amazing, sometimes, to see the apparent 'properness' & 'level-headedness' of folks who say they had 'seen' a 'ghost'.

Until one puts the question to oneself, why is it only they who hv 'seen' a 'ghost', and why not many other folks as well.

Perhaps there is some mechanism by which only rarely are individuals consciousnesses are preserved. Poltergeists might represent individuals who have gone mad with the situation. Perhaps some ghosts are actually time slips or overlaps.
Often ghosts are reported doing the same thing over and over again like an old broken record. I have never seen a ghost myself, though when I was much younger and interested in ritual magic, I experienced some interesting things; including a skeptical individual freak out, due to experiencing subjective sťance-type phenomena, that none of the rest of us could see (not uncommon, and why magicians used child seers in the past, on occasion).

With all due respect, I wud explain it as all hallucination. The same or similar way that hallucination can also occur with folks undergoing intense meditation, or taking drugs, or experiencing oxygen supply shortage to their brain due to injury, old age etc.

For me, if someone said they saw something that nobody else in the same place as them did, then what they said they 'saw' was just 'something' they hallucinated.
