The Self-Contradictory Nature of Both the Left and Right

The Self-Contradictory Nature of Both the Left and Right

A huge problem with the typical talk surrounding the Left-Right dynamic is that the many of the positions/views on both sides are self-contradictory and often highly out of step with theory.

A few examples I have previously given about this from the Left are "The Crisis of Democracy", Plato's "Republic", champions of free speech while perpetrating student "protests" designed to shut-down Free Speech, champions of Science while promoting 63+ genders pseudo-science, champions of anti-discrimination/anti-prejudice while simultaneously promoting positions and values that inherently are discriminatory (e.g. Affirmative Action, new laws/rules regarding M-F dynamics in court, M-F dynamics in rape/sexual assault and elsewhere, ect.) ect. ect.

From the Right, there are also a plethora of self-contradictory positions such as Small Government but massive military with a global presence, Nationalism and sovereignty are of chief importance but we should perpetually interfere with the affairs of other Nations, Lazefaire Capitalism in theory should reign supreme however promote all sorts of Mixed Economy positions, "Family values" are most important but most parents are encouraged to physically, emotionally, psychologically, educationally, ect. abuse their children, ect. ect.

Links to discussion concerning "The Crisis of Democracy", Plato's "Republic" here:

I agree, but "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines" Ralph Waldo Emerson.

However, I do think that those on both sides would argue that they are being consistent and that if you fully bought into their positions, you would see the consistency.

I'm not sure what you mean by Right and Left. I think that a conservative would say that there should not be permanent entanglements overseas, but if there are such entanglements then both they and our national interests should be strongly protected. Again, one strain of conservatives may be laissez-faire, but in a mixed economy one must deal with the realities of that economy. Most conservative parents would think you dishonest, crazy, or just plain stupid to say that they subscribe to a system by which "parents are encouraged to physically, emotionally, psychologically, educationally, ect. abuse their children, ect. ect."

Most conservative parents support Corporal Punishment (to varying degrees) as well as indoctrinating their children into the Mammal Snow Globe World (that doesn't conflict with their pre-conceived notions about the nature of reality--I have discussed this concept more elsewhere on Historum) while the Left tends to be much more in opposition to these causes.

The terms left and right are outdated. Using the seating arrangements of the post revolutionary French National Assembly to define modern political positions is an exercise in futility.

Politicians whether right or left, only became politicians to get filthy rich both as politicians and better still as lobbyists. The only difference between the right and left is which groups they tell lies to for support before collecting their campaign contributions and once in office bribes and immunities from laws like insider trading. They're entirely consistent reptilian and servants to the oligarchs they really serve whom they also tell the truth too.

I can´t make up my mind on left and right. On the one hand: It tell us little informative. On the other. If we want to discuss disagrereing points of view - that is as long as we have viewpoints other than decreed from above by some absolute authority that does not allow any other views - we need some words for it. And disagreements about what people deserves, and about (in) equalities, will be there as long as there is something to disagree about (as long as their are inequalites - "forever"?) I suspect. But then again the views that "leftists" and "rightists" has to agree internally on everything I find not only anachronistic, but close to ridiculous.
When people combine views mostly associated with "left" and other views and opinions associated with "right" or "centre" that may not be that bad.

The political opinions of most people—including my own—are generally a mix of ideas from all segments of the political spectrum.
