The thread title is not "Democratic Republics = rule of the fools" though. A democratic republic is a completely different thing entirely and shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as democracy. You are right about how my quote was meant directly for democracy, because in a bipartisan government the losers still have power.

Depending on the operational definitions, Democracy of any kind may indeed be considered the rule of all the fools; but experience has overwhelmingly shown that it systematically tends to be better than the rule of any single fool; Mr. Churchill was simply entirely right.
