Top ten philosophers

We do a lot of top ten lists here on historum, but have we ever done a top ten philosophers/scientists list? When you put your reply, please don't have it be based on how correct they were, but rather how smart they were even if the tended to be wrong. This is because later in history the philosophers had more theories to build on, however, guys like aristotle were working from scratch, hence aristotle has less correct theories then newton, but that doesn't necessarily mean that newton was smarter then aristotle. (Although he probably was)

Nice list, I can't come up with one but Hegel would be on it.

Socrates at the top as he was the original, tho I think Thales and others were before him, he was the mover and shaker of Western (and Middle Eastern) thought for centuries.

Hume and Hobbes might warrant a place too.

A list of the best philosophers of all time is a difficult thing to realise. It's much better to split the problem by choosing first the best philosophers of a certain period.

The philosophers that have had the most influence on actual history and individual behavior have been: Jesus of Nazareth, Mohammed, Siddartha (the Buddha), Confuscious and Albert Einstein. The Pharoah Ahkenaten (and is arguably the greatest philosopher of them all) may be given credit for initializing the three great monotheistic philosophies of the Jews, Christians and Moslems.Together these three "philosophies" affect more than half the population of Earth. Albert Einstein is most singular as his philosophy has changed the way we look at the world in ways that are still unfolding.
