Is there a difference between what someone see as a sexual preference and what he sees in subconscious state ?
I'll talk about myself for a starter....
When I'm asked of what type of women I prefer (from a sexual point of view)....As a "first" choice, I'd pick in the most Latino/Middle Eastern.....for example, I like Paz Vega, Salma Heyik, Penelope Cruz, etc....that doesn't mean that I don't have an attraction for other types but its that "Recallability" of a first option when asked about it.....Vs. what do I see in fantasies....When I have dreams of women....almost all women I see are blonde or black !!....I rarely dreamt of a Latino !!!
Does that mean that someone's perception of favourite sexual type is actually wrong ?!

Freud thought dreams were "the royal road to the unconscious" he stated two stages the manifest content and Latent content. Manifest: is based on what the dreamer remembers about the dream Latent: is the hidden unconscious desire that shows up in the dream, it helps to determine the meaning.

I love all the women, except the fat ones, those I can't "digest". When it comes to sex, I know when we're naked and turned on, things are changing rapidly. When I don't like her, I drink and she becomes more and more beautiful.
So women basically can't be as ugly as I can be drunk.
When it comes to type of women I enjoy in, it's rather psychological. I like women that can make me laugh, understand my meaning without stupid questions and doesn't bother me with silly and obvious things.
The sexual type in dreams. well, the picture speaks for more than 1000 words right? [Mod: Nice photo but not for a family forum. Photo deleted. ]
I think I'm dying, and it's not hangover!

Does that mean that someone's perception of favourite sexual type is actually wrong ?! | Social and cultural conditionings influence our perception. According to my culture in the past we were taught to be attracted to our own kind. Fortunately it is no longer taboo to be in relation with another ethnicity. I don’t wish to make this topic another “race topic” however this is why I am averse to labeling because labels perpetuate a type of conditioning that stimulates behavior according to the condition. Maybe it is your natural desire void of external influence that shows up in your dreams…..what you subconsciously desire plays out in your dreams…

Maybe it has to do with becoming older and one can easily look at a
woman and think she is a handsome lady, then move on without
automatically thinking you have to court & marry her.

- and a supporting side note from Book I of Plato's Republic:
[Socrates]:"And so now I would fain learn of you what you think of... 'the threshold of old age'. Is it a hard part of life to bear or what report have you to make of it?"
[Cephalus]:"...[I]t often happens that some of us elders... come together and... make lament, longing for the lost joys of youth.... But in fact I have ere met with others who do not feel in this way, and in particular I remember Sophocles the poet greeted by a fellow who asked, How about your service of Aphrodite, Sophocles - is your natural force still unabated? And he replied, Hush, man, most gladly have I escaped this thing you talk of, as if I had run away from a raging and savage beast of a master...."

To the OP. There are factors that attract us in different ways. But in reality, we become attracted to all different kinds of people. That is why we usually meet people when we least expect it, because we were not looking and they did not fit into our own stereotypes.
