Is liking a race more than other races racism?

I was wondering if someone who prefers a race over other ones or shows off their love for a certain race is labelled as a racist or not?

bartieboy November 13th, 2012 12:10 AM

yes, strictly speaking it is.
It makes you treat other races diferently and that is the definition of racism.

Cavanboy November 13th, 2012 12:12 AM

I only ask this because I have seen an increasing amount of internet pages being made for "white women who like black guys" and some of the stuff I read know there is what I would consider racism against whites yet they feel they are the most unracist people around.

Brisieis November 13th, 2012 12:12 AM

It depends.

If you take a liking to Japanese people, does it make you racist? Or is it only if the other race you like is white?

Sometimes we come from one group but kind of take a shine to another. The problem with racism is when you only take a shine to your own race and then treat the rest like they are beneath the one you stem from.

I don't see a problem with that unless that person then espouses that their beloved "race" is somehow inherantly superior to another, or starts to hate all other "races". What you are describing is a form of "patriotism" rather than "racism".

Well I see comments like white guys arnt as good as black guys, and becomes snobby to white guys (I know of a girl personal like this) and assume that on an average all black guys are better than white guys and I'm just using this as an example because it is the most common thing I see but I'm sure it happens vice versa

Well no, we would simply be speaking about positive racism, no racism would mean that there would be absolutely no difference in the way you treat an Asian man or a Latin woman.

Oh my, Cavanboy, what part of the internet are you looking in to?

Petyo November 13th, 2012 12:17 AM

Of course not!
Now, if one's acts of "showing off their love for a certain race" come at the expense of people from other races, then I guess it could be problematic. But apart from this, I don't see a reason why it should be considered racist, unless there is PC hysteria involved..

Facebook  but it's promoted all over the world, whenever there is a poster about multi naturalism and inter racial dating it's got a black guy and a white girl

I see what you mean, just because a woman is into black guys does not mean she should slander all white men. We all have preferences but that is just plain ridiculous. After all, looks alone do not define a person, those girls that think all black men are great and all white men are not, because of race, are just idiots imo.
