Debt based economy vs Equity based economy

I was listening to Coast to Coast earlier, and the guest, Catherine Austin Fitts, was advocating a move to a equity based economy. She said for the last 500 years, we've been living in a debt based economy. Debt based economy= war, equity based economy=peace. What is she talking about?

While I'm not familiar with Ms. Fitts, David Graeber has written extensively on the role debt has played in human history, you may want to check him out.
