History written by the ...


First time poster. Hi.

I've heard the phrase "history is always written by the victor" or something like that. Makes sense. If you defeat your enemy, and sack his city, obviously you can write the history of the war any way you want. Can anyone cite specific examples, current or ancient or anywhere in between? Is this still the case, even with free media and instant information? Was the Matrix a documentary?
