Re: Religion Subforum

This exact thread, is clear evidence that we should have separate religious forum, where we (believers) can discuss religion.

Perhaps we should also have an anti-global warming forum where they can discuss global warming without the troublesome encuberance of facts.

Perhaps we should also have a conspiracy theory forum where people can discuss conspiracy theories without the troublesome critisizm of skeptics.

Or perhaps only religious belief should be barred from critisizm, because popularity is a wonderful indicator of truth (sarcasm).

Perhaps you can speak to the moderators, they may create such subforums.

I was kidding.

Just go to any Christian forum. They usually have rules that don't allow heathens to participate in discussions.

Is providing links to other forums against the rules? I know of one where there are sensible people. They have subforums for every belief group where debate is not allowed, from Christian to Pagan to non-theist. They also have a subforum where debate is encouraged. They are fair to everybody and don't favor specific beliefs as this thread suggests.

Rasta, it has nothing to do with criticism of religion or the freedom of speech. Of course it is allowed, and is done.

I have just a wish that SOMETIMES, in SOME instances, the people here that ARE interested in discussing subjects that are cosidered by atheists nonsense will be able to do so without getting these remarks. You know, NOT EXERCISING your freedom of speech on absolutely EVERY POSSIBLE occasion may actually be a blessing. It is totally inescapable. And as a forum becomes a sort of community, "banishing" people to a different forum when they want to discuss something other than the theme is not really the point. Can't you see wnat I mean?

I see what you mean. It seems like favortism to me. Are there any areas that currently prohibit debate on this forum? How about man made global warming deniers, conspiracy theorists, psudoscientists, and history revisionists?

Should they get their own place too? Sorry, consistency is a big issue for me.

Whatever. I'm used to others thinking that my opinion should not be allowed. If you all get the mods to create a special "cater to a specific point of view" forum, more power to you.

I suppose us troublesome critics should take this as a compliment.

How about this:

A big party with a lot of members. Is it wrong for a group of peopl to go aside and talk together about some theme of interest to them without drawing the opinion of everybody in the room? It is not "against" anybody; it doesn't oppress anyone's freedom of opinion. Just a discussion in a side corner.

How is this different?

In all other threads - and there are many, God knows you and I have taken part in quite a few - everybody already do express their opinions, critisize freely, engage in arguments and generally participate in any way they see fit. This is not going to change.

I for one do not see anything wrong with a corner with a pre-conception of belief.

Anway, it's just wishful thinking. We are all too concerned with offending someone to do this - and according to this thread, it is a given, though I am at a loss why.
