Nobody ever wants French for a Lingua Franca.

Oh, this take a lot of conversation.
Are Austrians and Germans the same nation! That's why it would be helpful a larger state, doing so we could be save from territorial disputes.

Why? We have the English, and that's enough.

Germans are a wider group. Comparing Serbs to Montenegrins is more like comparing Austrians to Bavarians or Moldovans to Romanians.

Montenegrins are descended from Serb tribes and they all identified as Serbs until very recently. Political differences caused their split from the mainstream Serb identity. Currently, Montenegrins still refer to their language as "Serbian" and belong to the Serbian Orthodox Church. They are still a new nation with a very large minority (close to half) of Orthodox Montenegrins still identifying as ethnically Serb. Though that number seems to be decreasing almost every day. As it continues to decrease, they will most probably claim greater distinction from Serbs, starting with their language and then going into church matters.
