Chinese moon landing..

What would be the public reaction to a Chinese moon landing. How would it change things.

Hopefully it would result in NASA's budget being increased, and kick start serious planning for a manned mission to Mars.

It sounds impossible. But assuming the Chinese pulled it off that could startle quite a bit of people. For starters because it is far beyond China's capabilities but also because no one else other than the United States has accomplished a manned landing. I don't even think China can actually put people in space let alone on the Moon. Of course I would ask you to clarify by "moon landing". Do you mean manned or unmanned?

Don't Chinese have already a plan to land on moon ? Seems to me less of a speculative idea, but more of a matter of time .

They've done the former.

Right, it would be risky but I think they have what it takes.

Our country India also has decided to land astronauts on the moon, in the near future. And certainly China also has the capability.

Maybe there will be a mini space race between the two for their own moon landing this century.

we don't do or plan risky things when the risk is beyond our abilities.
so when we say planning to land on the back of the moon in 2018 (robot, not man) , we mean it. and we won't just do what had been done, we directly go to the back side--where no man has gone before.
