Ron Hubbard never invented Scientology

Rather than invent a Scamming Religion, Hubbard does something else

(Or is assassinated by a Time-Traveler)

How would things be different if Scientology never existed?

What effects would this have on Leah Remini's life (King of Queens) and all the other actors that were inducted into this religion?

How much better would our world be if it never existed?

Completely agreed.

I thought scientology evolved in part from a "drug treatment center cult" known originally a Synanom

Since I read Hubbard's works [and I've used his "technology"] I can comment this saying that ... since Scientology is irrelevant, I don't see what could be different if he remained in that bed ... [I don't know if you know how he started his "adventure"].

A part this ... probably Tom Cruise would not jump from a skyscraper to break his ankle ... and John Travolta would haven't had all that family troubles.

The point is: a SF author invents a "religion". Rich VIPs meet that "religion" ... why should this be relevant for common people?

Ok, I'm a Knight [and actually I got in touch with Scientology ... may be they look for important persons ... able to pay expensive bills??? I wonder ...], so I cannot say that my perspective is the perspective of a common person.

But ... do Scientology help homeless not able to pay their expensive bills?

If not it's not a religion, but a mundane and banal business.

No it started as Dianetics. A nice fad that lasted a couple of years before collapsing in debt

People would probably be groking at the Church of All Worlds.

From a technical perspective, "Dianetics" is not bad ... it's a version of psychoanalysis [a different way to use the cathartic method] ... on the other hand Scientology techs suck ...

They simply work thanks to suggestion.

Better to go to a psychotherapist.

Hubbard said that psychotherapy won't empty nuthouses ... great! But this is like to say that medicine won't empty hospitals!!!!!

Come on!

It was the reason John W Campbell and others dropped it like a hot potato when Hubbard decided to morph it into a religion.

And in spite of what Scientology will tell you, I have read from two different sources present at the dinner that Hubbard presented the idea of creating a religion for the express purpose of making money

Before he came up with Dianetics and Scientology, he used to hang out with Jack Parsons and Crowley:

Occult Sex, Rocket Magic & Scientology: The Jack Parsons ? L. Ron Hubbard Explosion - CrimeFeed

"Hubbard had met Crowley in the latter's Los Angeles temple in 1945," Paglia writes. "Hubbard's son reveals that Hubbard claimed to be Crowley's successor: Hubbard told him that Scientology was born on the day that Crowley died."
