Are our views of the future more "open" or "closed"?

If further explanation is needed: How do You people here view the future?
If an imagined scenario is mentioned will people here respond: Yes,that is possible, why not? Or will we tend to be more sceptical if any certain possible future history is mentioned. Since it is my intention there should later be "test-questions" (to see if we are more or less "open minded" than we tend to think of ourselves) I have put the post in speculative history forum.
(I have not made any "scores" but If anyone feel for it they may think of 10 as "most open" 0 as not open at all).
And what is asked for is primarily wht is believable, not so much what is desirable, though anyone should feel free to make statements about the later too.

The question is about seeing possibillities or more or less rule them out as highly unlikely/impossible.

.
As my father used to say ,"don't worry no matter how bad are they can always get worst "

Lewis Fry richardson ,inventor of fractal topography , modern meteorological forecast and dedicated pacifist
set a number of theory in his mathematical analysis of war .
the conclusion were quite grim , it would indicate than war intensity are directly proportional to the population numbers and the time interval in between events

others have commented that their distribution in time is similar to earthquakes
