Victoria did get on quite well with Napoleon III. Maybe she could have wangled an alliance there.

Well, it's not starred out in your reply so no. You sure you didn't substitute a Y and W?

Fairly sure. Unless autocorrect meddled with out my noticing it. Most of my typos come from trying to type on this tiny little keypad. But y and w are not so close.

Either way. I meant Americans!

I often wished we’d (all of Europe) stomped Prussia out of existence 1850s-60s. France Austria Britain.... I’ve long had an interest in the Hanovarian, Brunswick, Nassau and Bavarian militaries and seeing their states absorbed in Prussia was sad.

Prussia... one of my least favourite historical entities.

The best chance to get rid of Prussia was with the second Treaty of Tilsit after the French defeated the Prussians at Friedland in 1807. The treaty was severe, but not severe enough. Napoleon could have added more land to the Duchy of Warsaw including eastern Prussia. All the Baltic coast lands should have been incorporated into the Duchy of Warsaw as far as Western Pomerania. Brandenburg could have been left as a separate member of the Confederation of the Rhine as well as Western Pomerania. Napoleon was President of the Confederation and effective ruler of the Duchy of Warsaw. Silesia might be given back to Austria.

In other words, no more Prussia.

Correction. Prussia was soundly defeated at the Battle of Jena by the French in 1806. The Russians were defeated at Friedland. The treaties of Tilsit addressed both Russia and Prussia.

unlikely, but probably more likely than a GB invasion.

I meant Silesia, not S-H.

great concept for an alternate timeline; Prussia gets smacked down. Maybe Austria swallows all of Germany. without the idiot Kaiser, no WWI; without WWI, no WWII. and no Lenin, thus no USSR.
