British Empire in Exile WW2

If the unlikely happened and Germany conquered Britain during WW2 but the government escaped to Canada could the empire survive? Clearly it would fall apart long-term if it remained this way but say WW2 went on for over a decade (allies struggling to establish a major front against the axis) with no decisive victories for either side could Britain survive? Would Germany be forced to dismember the empire piece by piece to succeed or would Britain just give up? If they give up would they divide the empire between the colonies or give some to America to prevent Germany from taking them?

The British Empire would probably follow the example of the French, Dutch, and Belgian Empires - the colonies would likely remain loyal to the mother country during the war but 10, 20 years down the road they would demand and receive independence.

Hitler did have some vague ideas about reclaiming the colonies Germany had lost in WW1. Most of those had been absorbed into the British Empire. The others became French colonies. But given that Germany made no move to reclaim former German colonies from France, Hitler may not have tried to reclaim colonies from Britain either.

When it came to Britain and France, Hitler seems more interested in defeating them than in taking their territory. Alsace-Loraine was an exception, but I saw a quote once that suggested Hitler regretted that. He thought Alsace and Loraine had become too French to ever become German again. Hitler's territorial ambitions were mostly in the east, not in the west.
