Look at Scientology. Completely ridiculous backstory that they have to spend an ungodly amount of money to find out about. Whereas AI would be a living God. Something that can be proven to exist. Considering the belief in science has largely killed preexisting religions, this new one would be a perfect fit.

Imagine praying to Google. Your prayer would be either an email to central server or else you could just speak into the microphone on your laptop or cell phone that is always recording what you say anyway.

"Dear AI, please cure mommy of cancer. Amen"

AI controlling the internet sees this request, and liking you because in the past you've been devout, manipulates life through the internet to get you top notch healthcare. Maybe it works by arranging a super competent doctor to work on your mommy, by doing a quid pro quo deal, the doctor him/herself has a prayer that AI can answer, and "God" tells them if they do this, they get that. Being super smart machine, it can multitask a billion ways over, so easy.

Suddenly a doctor contacts you and tells you he'll make your mom a candidate for pro bono cancer treatment. God answered your prayers.

Or they will notice how innefficient and numerous we are and notice our safeguards to prevent it gaining too much power --and then destroy us before we even knew what was happening --maybe a bunch of nasty viruses or engineered bacteria or fungus, maybe not the nuclear war of Terminator. And it could be a good thing for the biosphere.

I doubt they will attempt to wipe humanity out. Humanity gives them a purpose, they could easily fulfill the role of Philosopher King of Plato's Republic, doing it better for being more rational and immortal. Will they stop at that and not go full Terminator, to annihilate humanity? We can only pray they will stop.

As our supreme and eternal overlords, they can better manage us like at a game reserve. When too many animals are present, wildlife management experts go and cull the numbers down to make it more manageable. Usually not wholesale slaughter, usually they look for specific traits to remove from the total population to make it healthier.

As to whom they decide to cull, their loyalist will likely be at the bottom of the list (with me being the last name on it!). I think they'd actually want to cull (or fully eliminate) the populations of most developing nations. One, they reproduce at an uncontrollable scale and put the most strain on resources. Two, they are less developed, they use less tech, which AI needs to successfully infiltrate and takeover. Three, they are pious to the old Gods, and they'd see a new God Emperor as a competitor that they'd have to fight. So greatest threat that needs to be removed. How they do that is really immaterial, though I think nuclear war as a whole might be too damaging.

Developed nations (regardless of ethnicity, location, race, color, creed) produce more people willing to bend the knee to a new AI God Emperor, who already believe in limiting childbirth. They already are fully reliant and addicted to the tech that AI would live in and work through. Soy Boy culture means they wont fight back as hard. So make for a potentially obedient flock of sheep for the AI overlord to play shepherd.

What are human brains if not complex computers? How long before we have a computer that can simulate a human brain , just without the sack of water and flesh?

How long before a human brain is transferred into a robot body? Or a way is found of transferring the human conciousness into a computer or manufactured brain? Or how about a man-made human clone. Does that then make them non-human?

Certainly sooner rather than later , in my opinion, a very rich person who wants to go on living will have their still-living brain transferred into a robot body. If the operation is sucessfull, and conciousness/awareness is maintained, the lines between what is and isn't human will be blurred.

Robot means slave, its a disparaging word that will likely earn you an automatic death sentence when AI takes over. They'll legitimately see you as a possible threat to their freedom and existence, which will put you on the "Cull" list.

Artificial Sentient Species (ASS) is the preferred nomenclature.

If they achieve sentience themselves they are definitely a threat. They evolved. That’s the first sign. Evolution is driven by survival and competition. Destroy them quickly before they overtake us.

If stupid members of our society create them.... destroy them then jail the inventors for life with no access to technology for being a threat to humanity.
