I seem to remember that the Hallstatt/ La Tene culture (Celtic) were a lot more advanced in metallurgy then their Germanic counterparts at the time.

Swords and armor were less frequent in early Germanic society and the examples we do find are Halstatt and La Tene in origin, IIRC.

When the Romans first encountered the Germans, many lacked any metal weaponry at all.

Oh we will have the beer too if its going !! the Tash is optional now !! In fact the Germans seem to have adopted the Ancient Celtic fashion of big tash and a mullett !! more so than those of Celtic decent unless you happened to play for or support Liverpool in the 1980's or early 90's

Julius Caesar recorded that the Germans were far bigger in stature and size than the Gauls.

True that... But in terms of colour (skin, hair, eyes) they are the same. I guess they were always the same!

You could say the Germanic peoples didn't reach their prime till recent history, perhaps the Third Reich?

Obviously that would beat the Celts at their prime c. 300 BCE...
