What if planes were never invented?

Can you imagine WW1 and WW2 if there were no planes involved? What if no one had invented the plane?

Just how much impact did aircraft have on WWI?

WWII would have been much different. I wonder if Hitler would have decided to try to invade the UK instead of trying to bomb them into submission.

Assuming he was not able to take the UK, taking Normandy would have been much tougher for the Allies.

Planes fully changed the face of warfare, its made nations
bold. Take that away and it might force nations to the bargaining
table faster.

Good point.

It also made the world "smaller", increasing the sphere of military influence.

Large but nothing compared to WWII.

In 1914 they were tiny fraile things were pilots and observers took 'potshots' at each other with pistols and rifles, then some sneaky 'Hun' took up a machinegun (dastardly trick!) and were of some use for recon.

As the war developed so did the plane and its role from recon to pure fighters, bombers and ground attack.

Not sure they 'changed' the war completely but they had a large impact, on morale and resources put into development if nothing else.
