Predictions for 2012
Care to take a chance on what this future year will bring?
Go on the record and we will un-Earth this thread next year at this time..
Trouble, trouble, trouble...
1. I predict a temporary crash in gold and silver prices. This will scare out small investors and then the price will really climb.
2. OWS may die but with another 2million foreclosures. Social unrest will climb to heights not seen since the 30's
3. Continued inflation and food prices doubled.
4. A unique 4 way presidential election. Secondary candidates rise on both left and right. Obama wins by the smallest percentage of votes in history. 35%
5. Official unemployment figures, 12.5%, unofficial figures, closer to 25%
6. Chinese enter the international stage as a formidable military power.

I agree with some of the predictions. However, I do not see whom the other candidates may be. I see the difficult time the Republicans have in selecting one suitable challenger so I can hardly see someone like say Ross Perrot emerging as a serious third candidate.
I definitely agree with China becoming more and more assertive, at least in Asia.
Now I will try a couple of predictions:
1) Russia will enter a time of unease, even if Putin is re-elected. I guess it has less to do with the protests of the people and more with the reshuffling within the ruling elite.
2) The EU will have a hard time. The debt crisis will continue and the German influence will continue to be strong. Its Eastern part will see bizarre regimes, hardly democratic, consolidating in Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania. The West is too busy to take care of these countries as long as they do not become strong dictatorships.
3) Turkey may continue to become more and more uninterested in pursuing the EU membership. At first no major effects but in long term it is a major loss for the EU.
4) Troubles in Middle East. Iran will continue to extend its influence in Iraq and will become more assertive in the Persian Gulf. Cold War with Saudi Arabia and the other monarchies, possible a new Shia uprising in Bahrein.

1) The collapse of the Euro
2) The return of recession to the UK and many other countries
3) The re-election of Barack Obama
4) International intervention in Syria
5) Descent into chaos in Iraq
6) Israeli air strikes on Iran causing fury in the Middle East
7) Big increases in the prices of food and oil

| True. People are sick of OWS and the unrest will continue. Quote: |
3. Continued inflation and food prices doubled.
| True Quote: |
4. A unique 4 way presidential election. Secondary candidates rise on both left and right. Obama wins by the smallest percentage of votes in history. 35%
| Differ. I see a GOP victory as the nation is tired of waiting for the president
to do something other than take vacations. Quote: |
5. Official unemployment figures, 12.5%, unofficial figures, closer to 25%
| True. The president hasn't done anything to stop it from growing and I can
see it hitting double digits. Quote: |
6. Chinese enter the international stage as a formidable military power.
| Undecided.
Good predictions though.

Hello,
Obama wins in US elections.
Hollande wins the French presidential elections.
The Salafists (yes, worse than the Muslim Brotherhood, who are already labelled as Islamists) gain power in Egypt. Heavy tensions with Israel and the US.
Intensification of the war in Afghanistan. Many allied nations pull out.
Heavy unrest in China. Tightening security.
Putin wins presidential elections in Russia. Actively works against "the west".
Nobody cares about Justin Bieber, Twilight anymore.
Social tensions between conservative/tea party/"christianists" and the federal government. Possible acts of terrorism.
Israel suffers international condemnations, sanctions.
Israel doesn't bomb Iran.
Turkey keeps failing at foreign relations. Gets tougher on the Kurds and other minorities.
Maliki consolidates his power on Iraq, gets closer to Iran.
British economy goes down the drain, unemployment soars. Possible early elections with Nick Clegg resigning from the coalition.
The Euro survives.
Hungary causes major tensions.
Acts of racism on the rise within the EU.
Italy gets better.

There might even be a 'celebrity' scnadal, which will reaffirm opinions of the industry's shallow nature. Also the media will disappoint in some way.
