I have seen a number of shows that show some ancient drawings which the producers say "must be" aliens. I don't believe it for a minute.

The most famous, I believe is an Aztec figure purporting to be an alien.

Surely that's Donald Duck?

All those strange pictures of "alien" people around the globe could certainly originate from hallucinogenic drugs.

This thread of speculative history reminds me something:

I suggest to read the works by Zecharia Sitchin. Probably the most known recent author of books regarding the identification of the ancient deities [overall the Sumerian ones] with aliens.

I read one of those books and it seems that a group of aliens coming from a planet called Ni.Bi.Ru [Sumerian spelling] modified genetically some apes creating the man because they needed workers for mines and star ports [robots were probably unknown to that advanced civilization ...].

Among the curiosities presented by the author there was that the Sumerian God Murdok had imprisoned in the Great Pyramid at Giza by an other God [if I remember well the God, the God of Abraham] and that on Sinai a tremendous nuclear war had unchained.

What gets me is that we know that behaviorally modern humans show up somewhere around 50,000 years ago. Then it takes them some 40,000 years to learn to grow wheat.

According to the Sumerian tale, the gods hold a feast after they create humans because they no longer need to work for their food. At the feast, they become drunk on beer . . . . of course beer is made from fermented grains.

So did the gods wait some 40,000 years to hold their feast?

I think the ancient astronaut theorists take some very creative licenses when interpreting ancient tales.

Aye, but that doesn't exactly point to intervention from a greater intelligence.

No doubt.

What we are merely trying to point out is that using an argument from ignorance to prove a point is fallacious, like shows such as Ancient Aliens do a consistent basis.
