Republicans and Roman Catholcs: Out of touch?

Recent elections in the US and France have shown results that indicate that Republicans in America and Roman Catholics may be out of touch with the social momentum all over the world. Speculate on what this may mean and where this may take both Republicans and Roman Catholics in the future. What changes might be suggested to make both political or spiritual venues more viable.

Recent threads on this forum have shown results that indicate that members may be out of touch with the intellectual momentum of the board. Speculate on what this may mean and where this may take us in the future but please remember that this forum does not host discussions of a contemporary political nature either in Speculative History or elsewhere.
