At Stamford Bridge Hardraada's Vikings defeat Harold's Saxons. Hardraada marches to London where he is informed William the Bastard has landed. The Viking axe-men defeat the Normans and Hardraada is crowned king of Norway, Denmark and England.
What would the consequences of a Norse victory have been?
how do you all think it would affect history of Harald Hardrada had succeeded in his invasion of england? what if hardrada hadnt gotten cocky and instead marched to york with his entire army in full battlegear and won at stamford bridge, instead of godwinson's army? would harald have had the forces to deal with william at hastings?
It's doubtful, unless the battle was reversed and he caught Harold on the hop. A full battle would have damaged his army badly, Harold was only able to go down and engage William because most of his army was intact.
What would be intersting is if Haadrada took on William while Harold stood on the sideline.
