Vietnam War protest first?

Is anyone aware of any world conflicts before the United States involvement in Vietnam where a general uprising by the civilian population in conjunction with servicemen unwilling to fight impeded the war effort?

I'm going to assume you're disqualifying the new york draft riots because they were only in NY?

The Emancipation Proclamation wasn't very popular for many areas in the north; entire regiments refused to serve because of it.

Maybe this is outside of the scope of your question, but there were lots of anti war movements, riots, and mutinies in World War 1. 1917 (i think was especially bad for the French and the Russians. At one point I seem to recall reading that entire battalions where abandoning their positions on the western front.

There were famous mutinies of the French Army and the German Navy (toward the end of the war), and several mutinies of large parts of the British Navy in the 18th Century, and the Seapoy Mutiny of the 19th century, but I don't think that is what OP is suggesting.
