Canb there be any better pre-battle speech that Henry V before Agincourt

William Shakespeare penned his play about him copying down word for word his exact speech on the eve of St Crispins day:

"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers..."

Not sure he copied it down mate

I thought all they had was some Burgundian sources telling about the potential to have their bow fingers cut off?

That text above is Shakespeare all over. I wouldn't have thought they were a 'happy few', tramping around France soaking wet, little supplies, poor propects and probably dysentery as well. They'd have told him to get stuffed.

Thank you. I had never considered that Churchill's speech was in fact a "battlefield address".

Good point. Modern means of communication to reach everyone? However, you bet WSC in his dual role of PM & Defense Min, saw it as a battlefield speech. As he did most of his commons dialog. His Cabinet minutes re "choking in his own blood"! Classic! Yes, an unabashed WSC fan.

I'm not going to post the video, but look at Thames TV Episode 12 "The Whirlwind" for "Bomber" Harris's film address to aircrews--"Fly into the devil's lair and burn his black heart out..."
