When Hitler suggests that an alliance with Britain would be highly desirable, etc, he is of course referring to an alliance on his terms.
Nazi Germany - an industrial death regime - was willing to embrace an alliance with any nation in Europe as long as it was on Hitler's terms.
Ironically, Hitler did not really want war in the sense that he hoped to achieve mastery of Europe by intimidating or coercing leaders into accepting his alliance or peace terms.

Although Nazi Germany deliberately and unilaterally initiated WW2, the idea was to do as little fighting as possible to achieve victory.

Of course Hitler as the dominant power in Europe would want to set the terms

But I think you'll agree that an alliance is somewhat different to defeating Britain.
