Question World Wars I and II (Family Wartime letters)

Hello everyone,

I urgently need published collections of family wartime letters of world wars I and II between a father on trenches to his wive and children back home in Britain (unfortunately IWM collections are not available for me).

If you have any suggestions, id be more than happy if you could let me know.

(I know the internet is full of wartime letters. however id rather focus on longer family correspondences for my study. thus rather looking for books focussing on one family like "Full of hope and fear" which is a book about an Oxford family )

Thank you for the link to my site, Triceretops

To save you time, Humpty Dumpty, I can tell you that the letters on my site are from sons to their mother, not fathers to their children.

I cannot think of anyone off the top of my head who is doing what you are looking for, but it might be worth looking through this list of people posting ww1 letters and diaries on Twitter. It's not complete, but it may be useful.

Good luck!

Hi Humpty Dumpty -

I notice you are in Austria - do the letters have to be in English?

Evelyn H has 2000 letters in German - I don't have her details, and it's a long time since she was on Twitter but she is here: twitter.com/1914_18evelynh and you may be able to contact her via her book or her university.

All the best
