Greatest American victories.

Here is a list of what I regard as the 10 greatest American victories.I have deliberately omitted the American Civil War,since as an intra-American conflict, every American victory in it was also an American defeat.

1.Saratoga 1777
2.Yorktown 1781
3.New Orleans 1815
4.San Jacinto 1836
5.Buena Vista 1847
6.Belleau Wood 1918
7.Midway 1942
8.Leyte Gulf 1944
9.Iwo Jima 1945
1O.Okinawa 1945

uhu... the greatest american victory is about how the americans had to outnumber the germans by almost 2 to 1 in menpower and lost more casualties then the germans?

sorry you cant take the american battles of ww2 in this,
the americans were known to be lousy shots, many men just fired their guns without decently aiming...
Not exactly their fault, they were just inexperienced and reckless.
another thing the americans were known for was that when some of them were cut off from the rest, surrounded and no chance of winning they would surrender very fast. While the Germans were known to first shoot their guns empty and THEN surrender.
Besides that they more oftenly shot germans and japanese that wanted to surrender (evendo the germans were more willing to surrender to the americans then to the british for some reason) and the treatment of prisoners by americans was also worse then that of the british

I strongly advise you never to utter the sentence "It's only hockey" north of the border, tj. Canadians may have a rep for being wimps, but just think about how many teeth hockey players have left....
