Just wondering but were the German military uniforms of world war 2 comfortable? how did they go in combat ? their jackboots look really uncomfortable and look like running would be a difficult task.
IMO the uniform, although looks amazing, looks very uncomfortable, espiecally in combat and urban areas.

I can't see the boots causeing any problems in running. Now if they were thigh highs, that might make things awkward. The uniform its self i imagine would not be all that comfortable. But i don't think it would be been any worse than the uniforms of other countrys.

Panzer uniform was unbelievably sexy. So much better than today's overalls, can't tell tankers apart from mechanic crews.

The russian uniforms look really comfy, the jackboots reach just below the knees which would seem unformtable for sprinting?

Oh and on an interesting side note. I believe it was Hugo boss who designed the ss uniforms.

I think these boots had been in use for some time. If they had effected running, i am sure they would have been shortened. It wouldn't make sense to give your troops kit that holds them back.
Not sure about what material the Soviet kit was made from, it does look to have been made from a lighter material.

I didn't even know Boss was German. Just found his Wiki page. Seems he was even a member of the NSDAP and the SS.
I doubt he designed the SS uniforms, unless it was the parade ones. But he would have most likely been one of the companys that made them. Hugo Boss - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia | | |
