Lee as a battlefield commander, Sherman as a strategist. Ultimately, Sherman.

Does the guy with the Sherman avatar need to specify who he votes for?

Both men had pluses and minuses, but to chose between the two,
it is as simple as breathing: General Lee .

If we are to have a pissing match between generals - I wonder who we should consider superior between Grant and Sherman?

It's a hard choice...but no matter how much I like General Lee, I'll vote Sherman.

It all depends on what you want from your general. Sherman was a great strategist and good operational commander, but not much of a battlefield commander. Lee was a more talented battlefield general, but strategically, his offensives outside his home turf are less than remarkable.

I generally avoid these types of comparisons like the plague, because they're never an apples-to-apples comparison and it always comes down to pure opinion. Even so, my pure opinion on this one is clear-cut: Lee.
