That is mere sophistry. The US planned the attack and equipped the Cuban exiles tasked with carrying it out and the US expected to benefit if it succeeded. As it was the end result was to drive Castro firmly into the Soviet sphere of influence.

Interesting... who was it?

Quote:
In early 1961, about 20 B-26Bs, most converted from B-26C configuration, were 'sanitized' at Duke Field (aka Auxiliary Field Three at Eglin AFB). They had defensive armament removed, and were fitted with the eight-gun nose, underwing drop tanks, and rocket racks. They were flown to a CIA-run base in Guatemala where training was underway of B-26, C-46 and C-54 Cuban exile air crews by personnel from the Alabama ANG (Air National Guard). After transfer to Nicaragua in early April 1961, they were painted in the markings of the FAR (Fuerza Aérea Revolucionaria), the air force of the Cuban government. On 15 April 1961, crewed by Cuban exiles, eight B-26s of the FAL (Fuerza Aérea de Liberación) attacked three Cuban airfields, in an attempt to destroy FAR combat aircraft on the ground. On 17 April 1961, FAL B-26s supported the seaborne Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba. The conflict ended on 19 April, after the loss of nine FAL B-26s, 10 Cuban exiles and 4 American aircrew in combat. The FAR flew B-26Cs in the conflict, one of which was shot down by a CIA 'command ship' with the loss of 4 Cuban aircrew.[33][34][35]
Looks like US State Department to me... not like the USAF to lose 45% of their bombers in one battle, so probably correct about Kennedy not sending them, but American none the less.

In spite of vigorous rebuttals by CIA management of the findings, CIA Director Allen Dulles, CIA Deputy Director Charles Cabell, and Deputy Director for Plans Richard Bissell were all forced to resign by early 1962

I think for me is the second Balkan war. Right before it, I think the Bulgarian people were at the height of their pride and glory, defeating their former ruler in a very decisive way, in numerous battles. And then loosing it all.

Recently I watched The Civil War by Ken Burns, and in the episode for Gettysburg Shelby Foote said that every southern boy can imagine himself in the lines before the Pickett Charge took place, before the south lost the war, and for me its the same, I want to be in that moment before the second Balkan war took place, before we lost it all
