I think American soldiers get paid really good for what they get in return. If they earn 2000/month and that doesn't include food, clothing, travel, utilities, health insurance, etc. They come out as expensive as 4000-5000/month. Which is good money.

That said, I think average infantryman best paid is in Denmark for getting outright cash. I knew someone who was earning 5600 a month being a soldier.

maybe a american soldier, depends on rank, and also free health care, and others I think the worst paid is the Confederate Army they were paid quite low and the revolutionary army,they were rarely even paid
