I always found the Tlingit war-helmets somehow disturbing.

The Antlered helmet worn by Honda Tadakatsu, not only was it totaly intimidating, if you saw it coming towards you in battle you were in deep trouble Honda Tadakatsu was unstoppable.

Perhaps not the most intimidating, but certainly one of the ghastlier European helmets I've seen.
