Replacement of the M16

The continued use of the M16 rifle and its variants by the US Armed Forces is in doubt and its replacement has only been delayed due to failures in the development of possible replacements. Some proposed replacements have been the FN SCAR and the Heckler and Koch HK416 as well as the XM8 Rifle until its cancellation in 2005.

Sooner or later the M16 and M4 rifles will be replaced. With what though is the question.

Thoughts?

Don't have any hard data at hand, but when they replaced the 1911 w/ the M92 Beretta, one of the conditions was that the manufacturer had to be able to produce in the US. Beretta had an existing facility at Accokeek (?) Maryland. If that condition is repeated, then the options may be very limited.

An assault rifle based on the AK-47 action would be a good option (as used by the Finnish, South African and Israeli armies). Something reliable that has stopping power, high magazine capacity, excellent accuracy and range. These guns could be mass-produced by GM to keep America's auto workers employed.

It'll be the G36 I think. It's the issued assault rifle of the German armed forces as well being used by law enforcement and armed forces of about 25 other countries. Can't see the US using the Galil (suggested by Nick), it's getting on a bit now, been in service since 1972 with the Israeli's.

PSD made by LWRC

It is basically a M4 that fires the 6.8 round and is as durable and reliably as the G36. It is also 100% American.

part 2
here are videos from future weapons

By the way, how can I put picture? I still don't know that.
I thought it was [image], but it requires URL, which I often screw up.
How are you guys putting up the picture like what you did?

I do have a gut candidate, but fail to show picture like you guys. PLZ

To show a picture click on the insert image button and then a window will appear with a box that already has http:// in it. Erase http:// and copy the link that is in the address bar that contains the picture.

The Department of Defence is also looking at replacing brass as the casing of ammunition due to its density and cost. They are looking at aluminum and plastic but caseless ammunition is also being seriously considered.

Thanks, one more question. So if I have a picture in my computer, it is impossible to upload the picture? I just have lots of pictures I wanna share with you, which I can found in internet for some, but not every.

Anyhow, another gut candidate is XK-11, made in South Korea.

It is multi-assualt rifle, which can be used even for "air burst bullets."
Unfortunately
Korean_New_Rifle Korean_New_Rifle

It is wayyy cheaper than U.S. Army's multi assualt rifle, which is now cancelled out by Pentagon due to economy crisis.

Though XK-11 looks like more heavy, but it provides everything they need for infantry in the battelfield. South Korean Army is now officially armed with this rifle, one for platoon by 2012, and every infantry by 2020.

Youtube video is also avaliable though it was in Korean, so may difficulty in understanding it.
