in terms of the field of the military, what person would you consider the most epic failure ever? (epic meaning it would have been awesome to see) | | |

If a military leader fails in any spectacular way, this inevitably leads to the loss of tens of thousands of lives. I do not see anything awesome in that.

The Mongol destruction of the Khwarezmid Empire. After approaching Al ad-Din Muhammed II as an equal through ambassadors and trade parties, the aforementioned Shah had the envoys killed and their entourages insulted by shaving their beards and heads and sending them back. The result was 200,000 mongolian warriors laying waste to the Empire and establishing Genghis as the supreme power of his day.
Forget about the losses in soldiers, as many as 4 million civilians were possibly killed, because one guy thought he was scarier than another. That is a pretty epic fail.

Sedan, 1870, for the French. Although maybe the entire French campaign was fairly disastrous.
