The Social Revolutionarys won the majority of the seats and combined with the Bolsheviks more than 90% of the seats. The elections for the Duma under the Czar had been weighted towards middle class voters, and most of the peasants and workers voted for radical parties. The Social Revolutionarys won most of the peasant vote. I don't think there has ever been a more or less free election where radical parties did any near so well. In the US, poor people generally were not impressed by middle class radicals. In Europe, socialist parties have done well, but never near so dominant.
Was this because there were more farm workers and unskilled workers in Russia? Because there was no tradition of elections at all before 1906? Is this partly why Russia became Communist, that the majority supported extreme socialists?
