When i watched the Argentina Saudi Arabia match i thought Messi’s team were playing an African side. I did not know there was a sizeable black population in Saudi Arabia. We never see them reflected elsewhere in Saudi society most notably in The oil industry, political or religious leaders, academia engineers businessmen construction development etc
Morocco is also doing well and reached tge semi final. They have won the Africa cup of nations. But do the north african countries see themselves as ‘African’ or ‘Arab’ first. in some Arab countries in north africa where many of them are there is still stigma to using the word ‘African’ they don’t use it as it cones back to slavery which was only abolished in Saudi Arabia in 1966. could this be the reason we only see blacks progress in football compared to elsewhere in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries?
