Cyrus S Eaton was a giant of his time. Eaton was once interested in joining the Church as a leading clergyman but it was of all people John D Rockefeller that convinced Eaton to get into the world of business. Eaton enjoyed great success early in life, and even though Eaton would lose most of his millions in the Great depression...Eaton made a financial comeback after the depression showing perhaps the spirit of Americans of not giving up. Eaton was a Canadian American Businessman whom founded Republic Steel in the 20th century. Republic Steel went on to become one of the largest steel companies in the world and a major contributor toward the allied powers in WW2.
Great men of history such as Cyrus S Eaton believed in the cause of the allies, that is to work toward a better world where all can live in peace. Eaton was so much interested in peace that he set up the Pugwash Conference at his home in 1957...inviting the worlds greatest scholars to talk about how all peoples can work together and live in harmony. As we all know after WW2 the allies fell apart and grew against each other. The Cold War would usher in a period of instability, wars and division. But it was men such as Eaton whom did what they could even amid the cold war to bring people together that otherwise were in opposition,
