I've always found indenturing of immigrants an interesting topic that is so often overshadowed by other forms of servitude and slavery in America.... but the similarities in terms of suffering are very apparent in this article.

"And the saddest of all this is that parents must generally give away their minor children without receiving a compensation for them; inasmuch as such children never see or meet their fathers, mothers, brothers or sisters again, and as many of them are not raised in any Christian faith by the people to whom they are given." šŸ˜­
